District Parent Trainers
The Arkansas Parent Training Center is proud to announce the implementation of the new program "District Parent Trainers (DPT)". The program will enable the Parent Training Center (DPT) to provide a more effective saturation of information across the state, reaching parents with training programs on IDEA, Effective IEPs, Section 504, and many other topices of interest. District Parent Trainers will receive instruction on power point presentations created by the Arkansas Parent Training Center.
Workshops are designed to provide information to interested parties with Q & A (questions / answers) options available via email to PTI staff. Each DPT will provide two training per calendar year in a local setting, covering a three to four county area. Publicity and mailouts will be handled through the local department of Human Services and the Parent Training Center. Each DPT will receive a $100.00 stipend for their completed training session.
The implementation of this program will begin in October 2008 with 10 "DPTs in various counties across the state. The following year five more DPTs will be added for a total of 15 trained District Parent Trainers by the end of 2011. Positions across the state are still being filled. Particular coverage areas of interest are Lawrence (Hoxie), Johnson (Clarksville), Monroe (Brinkley), Pulaski (North Little Rock and Jacksonville). Previous counties: Columbia, Lafayette, Miller, and Union.
